Case Study: "Junk Foodies" Podcast Logo and Branding Design
Client: Maxwell Jones - iHeartMedia
Project goal
Maxwell Jones, a radio personality at Z100 New York and iHeartRadio, needed a logo and branding design for his new podcast, "Junk Foodies." The challenge was to create a visual identity that would reflect the podcast's theme and personality, appeal to its target audience, and stand out in a crowded market of food-related podcasts.
Solution
I conducted research and analysis to understand the podcast's audience, tone, and content, as well as the client's preferences and feedback. I also analyzed the branding of other food-related podcasts to identify opportunities and gaps in the market.
Based on my research, I developed a design direction that focused on the podcast's fun, casual, and food-centric personality. Since the client has a very childlike, outgoing, and playful energy, I chose a color palette that combined fun and playful colors, such as bright yellow, blue, and orange. To add to the playful energy, I chose a playful and rounded typography that emphasized the podcast's name and reflected the theme of junk food.
I presented several design concepts to the client, including sketches, mood boards, and mockups, and incorporated their feedback to refine the final design. I created a logo that featured a cartoon-style ice cream icon with the podcast's name in bold and modern typography. The ice cream was chosen as the icon because it adds to the playful energy of the design and reflects the podcast's theme of indulgence and love for junk food.
I also designed a full branding system that included a podcast cover art, social media templates, merchandise, and other collateral materials.
Results:
The new logo and branding design for the "Junk Foodies" podcast successfully captured the podcast's theme, personality, and audience. The design stood out in the market of food-related podcasts and helped the podcast attract listeners and increase its reach. The client was pleased with the final design and its effectiveness in promoting the podcast's content and visual identity. Overall, the project was a success, and I learned valuable lessons about conducting research, developing a design direction, and incorporating feedback from the client.
